WADDINGTON — Waddington resident Austin Scott broke a 16-year old record en route to being selected as the NEWMAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week.

Scott set the 5,000-meter run record with a 14:54.49 during the elite distance portion of the Conn. College Silfen Invitational.

The top NEWMAC time of the season was better than the 14:56.10 that Justin Lutz '02 handed in back in 2001.

The performance was also quicker than the NEWMAC meet record time of 14:55.82 set by MIT's Sean Nolan in 2002 and would have been 10th at last year's NCAA Championships.
