CANTON – The Canton Unitarian Universalist Church recently presented its Rachel Somers Grant Social Action Award to Carol Pynchon, left, and Sara Schaff, right, with Kerry Grant, center, attending.
The award is presented annually in memory of Grant's late wife Rachel, to honor members of the community who, like Rachel, provide leadership in promoting social justice and change.
Pynchon was recognized for her efforts to organize the North Country presence at the Women's March in Washington in January.
Schaff was instrumental in establishing the Write the Power NY 21 group and organizing awareness raising efforts and activities in the congressional district.
