Two appointed to associate professor positions at Clarkson University

POTSDAM -- Alastair Kocho-Williams and Ben Galluzzo have been appointed to associate professor positions at Clarkson University.

Kocho-Williams teaches and studies history at Clarkson. His research is centered on Russian and Soviet history. He holds a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and Ph.D. from the University of Manchester in England and a post-graduate certificate in learning and teaching in higher education from the University of Leeds in England, and was a senior lecturer in England before coming to the United States.

Galluzzo is with the Institute for STEM Education at Clarkson. He holds a bachelor of science and Ph.D. from the University of Iowa, and received his master’s degree from Boston University. His research concentrates on mathematical modeling, particularly with application of mathematical concepts and strategies, faculty mentorship and using mathematical modeling within the high school classroom, having developed new courses and workshops in these areas. His current National Science Foundation grant is for integrating math modeling with computational thinking to bring real-world problem solving to high school mathematics classrooms.
