MASSENA -- Alcoa Massena recently announced that Natalie Hurlbut and Annika Sandvoss were awarded $4,000 scholarships from the Alcoa Foundation.
Hurlbut
Hurlbut is the daughter of Alcoa employee Ken Hurlbut and Annika is the daughter of employee Kirk Sandvoss. Both are expected to graduate from Massena Central High School in June.
Each were awarded the scholarships based on academic achievement, leadership, volunteerism, community service and character, according to a press release from Alcoa.
Hurlbut plans to attend Mohawk Valley Community College, where she will study nutrition and diet, as well as enroll in the pre-nursing program.
Sandvoss
Sandvoss plans to attend SUNY Plattsburgh to obtain a registered nursing degree, following the path through the master’s program for certification as a nurse practitioner.
Villnave
Meghan Villnave has been awarded a board of trustees scholarship from Keuka College.
The scholarship is valued at $15,000 each year. To qualify, Villnave had to have a GPA between 3.5 to 4.0, or 90 to 100 percent.
