POTSDAM -- Melissa TenEyck, RN within the surgery department of Canton-Potsdam Hospital, has been named Employee of the Month for May. Since her joining the Hospital in 1993, TenEyck has readily taken on numerous additional responsibilities. She currently serves as an operating room Charge Nurse, a position for which her colleagues note she is perfectly suited.
As Charge Nurse, TenEyck oversees staffing, case flow, quality and safety initiatives of all five operating rooms. She is recognized for her “how can we make this better?” attitude and always strives to find solutions.
“Melissa is doing a wonderful job as Charge Nurse in the operating room. I’m very proud of her,” said Jeanette Dempsey, RN, Director of Peri-Operative Services. “She is a natural leader and well respected among staff and providers. Patients know her by name and appreciate her calm and nurturing personality, especially children who are easily excitable and nervous prior to surgery,” added Dempsey.
TenEyck was presented with an arrangement of flowers, Potsdam Guild Gift Shop certificates, Chamber of Commerce gift certificates, recognition pin, certificate of achievement and a designated parking space for the month.
