CANTON -- The SUNY Canton Foundation recently committed $5,000 per year for five years in scholarships to Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center employees seeking a bachelor of science or an associate of applied science in nursing from SUNY Canton.
This year’s scholarship recipients include three employees who are working to earn their bachelor’s degress at SUNY Canton:
• James Phillips an RN working in the mental health department
• Lindsey Hayes an RN working in the medical/surgical department
• Tracy Willmart an RN working in the mental health department.
Two scholarship recipients are enrolled in SUNY Canton’s RN program:
• Rebecca Compo, a mental health worker in the mental health department
• Lindsay Drummond, an emergency service assistant in the emergency department.
Each of the recipients will receive a $1,000 scholarship toward tuition and other educational expenses.
The first year the scholarships were awarded was in 2013.
The scholarship was established to encourage CHMC employees to continue their education and pursue higher levels of training in order to provide the highest level of care to the community.
