OGDENSBURG – A student from Ogdensburg Free Academy was recently chosen as the 2015 recipient of the annual Pro Musica Chorus scholarship. Graduates from Heuvelton Central School, Morristown Central School and Madrid-Waddington Central School were chosen as 2015 recipients of the annual Pro Musica Chorus awards.

Honors were given at the end of the school year to students recommended by their choral music teacher.

The 2015 recipient of the Bibbens Scholarship is Zoe Martin. Martin will attend SUNY Albany to study pharmacy.

2015 awards were given to Mikayla Pike, Kaitlyn Wilson, and Sophia Roome.

Pike, a graduate of Heuvelton Central School, will attend SUNY Potsdam to pursue a major in dance and education.

Wilson attended Morristown Central School and will study English at SUNY Potsdam.

Roome, a Madrid-Waddington Central School graduate, will attend St. Lawrence University’s liberal arts program with a concentration in music.

Pro Musica, a choral group which began in Ogdensburg almost fifty years ago, awards a scholarship and awards annually in memory of Sally Bibbens, its founder and director, to reward and encourage participation in choral music in school and in life.

The scholarship is awarded to a student who is graduating from Ogdensburg Free Academy and has shown excellence in choral music during his or her high school years.

Funds for the scholarship and awards are raised from member dues and proceeds from the annual spring and Christmas concerts.
