NORWOOD -- Students from the Allied Health Program at Seaway Career and Technical Education Center recently attended the annual Health Occupations Students of America spring conference in Syracuse and walked away with 23 competition medals.
Competitions included medical photography, public service announcements, researched persuasive speaking, biomedical debate, sports medicine, medical spelling and the HOSA Bowl.
Brent Green, Kayla Myers, Ayanna Mason and Bethany Gilbert, bronze medal, competed in the HOSA Bowl.
Kurstin Stowell & Ashley Cayea, gold medal, participated in the health career display.
Cristina Chakranarayan, silver medal, and Kimberly Stewart, bronze medal, participated in the medical photography competition.
Katelyn Bertrand, Kelsey Green, Mia Jermano, and Desiree Palmer, silver medal, participated in the public service announcement competition.
Allied Health is a one-year program that gives high school seniors the opportunity to prepare for a career in the health care field.
Students are provided the opportunity to job shadow two days a week in the health care community and earn college credits.
