CANTON -- Marina Llorente, professor of modern languages at St. Lawrence University, attended a Literary Criticism Conference from Nov. 12-14 in Istanbul, Turkey, sponsored by the Eastern Mediterranean Research Center.
Llorente chaired a session and presented a paper, titled “Sites of Memory in Contemporary Spanish Poetry: Silence and Resistance.”
In it, Llorente addressed the work of socially committed Spanish poets who deal with the forgotten violent events of Spain during the turbulent twentieth century.
Llorente also took the opportunity to present her latest published volume, “Sites of Memory in Spain and Latin America: Trauma, Politics, and Resistance,” co-edited with Aída Díaz de León and Marcella Salvi.
