St. Lawrence Health System names employees of the quarter

St. Lawrence Health System employees Robert Bovay, Tracy Huczel, and Michelle Marston were recently named employees of the quarter.

Bovay joined the Canton-Potsdam Hospital facilities team in 2013 and holds the plant operations lead technician position.

Members of the hospital’s staff noted Bovay’s understanding and helpful nature and his persistence and attentiveness to areas of patient care, according to a press release.

“Rob is very well respected by his peers, hospital staff, medical staff, and the leadership team,” said Jon Huckle, facilities manager. “He has been exemplary in his role as lead technician and the quality of workmanship is a testament to how much he cares about our patients, visitors, and colleagues,” added Huckle.

Huczel, LPN was hired by the hospital in 1989 as an LPN and later accepted the position of laboratory technician.

She is “commended by her peers for always performing above expectations and demonstrating initiative and unending dedication to thorough quality care,” the release said.

“Tracy became our customer service champion when we partnered with Mayo Medical Laboratories of the Mayo Clinic. She consistently displays a high level of professionalism and etiquette while offering support and guidance to our providers in regards to all reference testing. She works collaboratively with our providers to ensure that the most up to date, cutting edge test information is readily available. She manages a very busy reference testing department that has grown exponentially with the addition of our specialty providers,” said Karen Cox, director of laboratory services.

“She is always willing to go the extra mile for our patients and her co-workers. She displays an easygoing, positive attitude and is well versed in all areas of the laboratory, which allows her to play a very diverse role in supporting all departments within the lab. Additionally she has taught and is now assisting with the BOCES phlebotomy course. She is a mentor to the students and encourages their interest in the medical field by communicating with the students the importance of the healthcare profession,” said Cox.

Michelle Marston, LPN, become a part of the CPH central supply team in 2000 and since that time as also served as a nurse aide, surgical technician, sterile processing technician, LPN for the pain management practice and, most recently, LPN for the cardiology practice.

Marston’s colleagues note her thoughtfulness and priority to provide exceptional patient care, the release said.

“Michelle’s ability to create a quality experience for her patients is truly amazing, said Albert Hanson, practice manager.

“Upon her arrival to the practice, everyone could see the positive effect she had on her team as well as our patients. Michelle always puts the needs of her patients first and truly deserves this honor,” said Hanson.

Bovay, Huczel, and Marston were each given a dish garden, chamber gift certificates, CPH gift shop gift certificates, a memento pin, and a designated parking space for the next three months.
