POTSDAM -- Kunjvihari “KC” Chakranarayan, Jamie Hicks, and Marsha Sweet were recently chosen as St. Lawrence Health System employees of the quarter.

Chakranarayan, an LPN, joined CPH’s Potsdam primary care team in 2009.

In 2012, he accepted a position with the Potsdam general surgery practice, where he continues to care for patients at 25 Cottage St.

He is noted for his support of others, especially in guiding and training new staff, according to a press release.

“Kunjvihari Chakranarayan (KC) is a revered member of the physician practice management family. A preceptor for our specialty practices, he assists in building the skillset and confidence of newly hired licensed practical nurses to our organization,” said Ann Goodrow, practice manager.

“KC continuously lends his expertise and willingness to help to our practices across St. Lawrence County and always portrays a professional and compassionate demeanor. I’m proud to work with such a dedicated member of our team,” she said.

Hicks, plant operations technician, was hired by CPH in 2012 as a member of the facilities team.

He was recognized by his peers for “his skillful workmanship and invaluable trouble-shooting skills,” the release said.

In addition to his responsibilities, Hicks enrolled in an electrical apprenticeship continuing education program, which he completed this past fall.

“Jamie joined us as a painter in the plant operations and maintenance department. He was quick to show his value and his focus on the patient experience,” said Randy R. Vanbrocklin, director of facilities and plant operations.

“His core values helped him develop as an initial member of the internal construction team into CPH’s very first candidate in the NYS Electrical Apprenticeship program and now employee of the quarter. Jamie always goes above and beyond for the patients and his customers and models the behaviors that CPH embraces,” said Vanbrocklin.

Sweet, an RN, joined the hospital’s medical surgical unit in 2008 to care for inpatients on the second floor.

Her colleagues noted her “knowledge, attention to patient safety, and compassion,” the release said.

She is considered “a role model for others to emulate and a mentor to new nurses,” it said.

“Marsha combines compassion with the utmost professionalism,” said Marie T. Martin, Canton-Potsdam Hospital’s chief nursing officer.

“She has mentored new nurses and student nurses, is always willing to help her colleagues, and upholds practice standards in all situations,” said Martin.

Chakranarayan, Hicks, and Sweet celebrated with colleagues and peers. Each was given a dish garden, chamber gift certificates, CPH gift shop gift certificates, a memento pin, and a designated parking space for the next three months.
