St. Lawrence Health System recently held ceremonies to congratulate Canton-Potsdam Hospital’s employees of the quarter Illyssa Carty, Jill Hosmer and Aaron Thompson.

Carty joined the hospital’s orthopedics team as a patient representative in 2013.

Since her arrival, her colleagues have noted her “exceptional organization skills, ownership and follow-through of projects, and optimistic demeanor,” a press release from SLHS said.

“Illyssa brings energy and compassion to our St. Lawrence Orthopedics and Sports Medicine practice on a daily basis,” said Albert Hanson, practice manager.

“She is genuinely understanding and compassionate of our patients’ needs and concerns while scheduling their surgeries. She has been recognized by our patients as well as her peers for the excellent customer service she provides. We are fortunate to have Illyssa as part of our team at St. Lawrence Orthopedics and Sports Medicine."

Hosmer started with the hospital in 2009 as an inpatient medical and surgical nurse. In her six years with CPH, she’s been noticed by her co-workers and providers as an “‘amazing’ charge nurse who goes above and beyond without being asked. She is respected by colleagues for her attention to detail and thorough communication of patient information,” the release said.

“Jill is an exceptional nurse providing outstanding care with compassion and empathy. She is a true patient advocate and is committed to her patients,” said Laura Kiely, a nurse. “She has a positive and professional attitude and is an excellent role model. We are very fortunate to have her on our MSU3 team. Thank you, Jill for all you do and continue to do for our patients.”

Thompson joined the hospital in 2013 as an IT support tech and quickly grew into the role of systems engineer.

“He is known across all departments for putting 110 percent into everything he does to help ensure clinicians, support staff, and administration have the best possible services to support the community,” the release said.

Standing in back are Rose Orologio, Sherman Bamper, Joseph Mulvana, Dakota Courtois, Lyndon Allen, Frank Vaisey, Christian Thompson and Jorge Grillo.

According to his peers, “he performs to the highest standard to help solve technical and process-based challenges,” according to system staffers.

“People like Aaron are hard to find, and sometimes hard to keep. Aaron gives more, cares more, works more, always wants to learn more, and is more curious. He likes his job, likes working with everybody, and helping anybody. He deeply cares about the community and is passionate about doing things correctly,” said Bojan Petrovic, director of IS infrastructure and support.

“Recently, Aaron was promoted to systems engineer, after passing one of the most important professional certificates, which is again a testament to his professionalism and dedication.”

Each received a dish garden, chamber gift certificates, CPH gift shop gift certificates, a memento pin, and a designated parking space for the next three months.
