Samways appointed assistant professor at Clarkson

Damien Samways has been appointed assistant professor of biology at Clarkson University.

He received his bachelor of science degree from the University of Southampton and his Ph.D. from the University of Bristol. Both universities are in the United Kingdom.

Before coming to Clarkson, Samways was a research assistant professor and postdoctoral fellow at Saint Louis University.

His research interests include Ca2+ flux and gating through P2X receptors, and activation mode-specificity of Ca2+ flux through thermosensitive TRPV receptors.

Samways has co-authored 11 peer-reviewed original research articles, two reviews, one book chapter, and over a dozen meeting abstracts. He is a member of the Biophysical Society.
