The Holy Name of Jesus Academy, Massena, class of 2014. Front, Pauline Kohl of Hopkinton, Bridgette Flannery of Massena, Leah Anderson of Corydon, Ind., Philomène Lambert of Lévis, Que. and of Rose Beck North Lawrence. Back, Gabriella Bradley of North Lawrence, Céline Lambert of Lévis, Que., Mariah Kneuper of St. Marys, Kan., Catherine McCormick of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Rita Goodwin of Potsdam.

MASSENA -- Ten students recently graduated from The Holy Name of Jesus Academy.

Hailing from New York and as far away as Indiana, Oklahoma, and Kansas, they have spent their high school years here, and some have been students since the sixth grade. Philomène Lambert of Lévis, Que. was valedictorian, graduating magna cum laude. Leah Anderson of Corydon, Ind. was salutatorian, graduating cum laude. Rita Goodwin of Potsdam also graduated cum laude.

Mother Marie Reginald, the school's mother prioress, addressed the class of 2014 and reminded them that they are on a journey and have been given all the tools they need to follow their particular path in life and ultimately reach their final goal, the school said.

Mother Marie Genevieve, the mother general of the congregation, who flew in from the motherhouse in France for the occasion, was the guest speaker. She spoke of the responsibility each had to live what she had received.

“They will be the educators of humanity by educating their sons, by teaching them to be free, that is, to obey, and in this way they will be helping them discover that things have a nature as do events, and that man cannot change that nature," she is quoted as having said in a statement from the school.
