Professors at Clarkson University receive miscellaneous accolades

POTSDAM -- Professors at Clarkson University recently received miscellaneous accolades.

Army Maj. Michael C. Athanasakis, professor of military science and chair of the Army ROTC department at Clarkson University, has been promoted to lieutenant colonel.

Senior University Professor Richard E. Partch of Clarkson University's Center for Advanced Materials Processing (CAMP) has been invited to serve on the advisory board of the International Conference on Advanced Materials (ICAM).

Distinguished University Professor and Scientific Director of the Shipley Center for Innovation Gabor Forgacs was named distinguished professor emeritus at Clarkson University's 124th commencement on May 13.

Distinguished Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering William R. Wilcox was named distinguished professor emeritus at the school’s commencement on May 13. He was honored for exemplary service to the university.

Professor of Humanities Joseph Duemer was honored as professor emeritus at the school's 124th Commencement on May 13. He was recognized for 28 years of exemplary service to the university.

Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Don H. Rasmussen was named professor emeritus at the school's commencement on May 13.

Clarkson University Civil and environmental Engineering Professor Weiming Wu has been named the James K. Edzwald Professor of Water Engineering.

Professor of Civil and environmental Engineering Feng-Bor Lin was named professor emeritus at Clarkson University's 124th Commencement on May 13.

Clarkson University School of Business Dean Dayle Smith was elected chair of the Women Administrators in Management Education (WAME) Affinity Group at the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of business (AACSB) International Conference and Annual Meeting this spring.

Jie Sun, an assistant professor of mathematics, was awarded the John W. Graham Jr. Faculty Research Award during the school's 124th commencement ceremony. Sun was also recently granted tenure and promoted from assistant professor to associate professor of mathematics in the School of Arts & Sciences.

Vicki LaFay has been promoted from clinical assistant professor to clinical associate professor of physical therapy in the School of Arts & Sciences. She also serves as director of clinical education.

Keith B. Young has been promoted from clinical assistant professor to clinical associate professor of physician assistant studies in the School of Arts & Sciences.

Sarah Melville has been promoted from associate professor to full professor of humanities & social sciences in the School of Arts & Sciences.

Diego Nocetti has been promoted from associate professor to full professor of economics & financial studies in the School of Business.

George Fulk has been promoted from associate professor to full professor of physical therapy in the School of Arts & Sciences.

Steven Mygind Pedersen has been granted tenure and promoted from assistant professor to associate professor of communication and media in the School of Arts & Sciences.

Sanjeev Kulkarni of Princeton, N.J., who was also a longtime Potsdam resident, has been elected to the Clarkson University Board of Trustees. He will serve on the external affairs and internal affairs committees.
