Clarkson University student Kevin L. MacVittie of Potsdam, was part of a winning team at the 2015 New York Business Plan Competition.
MacVittie, a grad student majoring in chemistry, presented “Z-Score” with other Clarkson students. The team won the People's Choice Award in the information technology/software category and received a $500 prize.
Students working with the Reh Center for Entrepreneurship in Clarkson's School of Business and the Shipley Center for Innovation traveled to Albany in April to pitch their business plans to a panel of national venture capitalists, “angel” investors, investment bankers and seasoned entrepreneurs.
"This competition is a wonderful opportunity for students to hone their entrepreneurial skills and embrace new challenges," said Erin Draper, director of the Reh Center.
The New York Business Plan Competition featured student teams representing 65 colleges and universities who pitched their business plans for innovations in a variety of sectors, including nanotechnology, biotechnology, information technology and clean energy.
