POTSDAM -- A Potsdam resident was recently selected as a recipient of a $10,000 2015 Dissertation Fellowship from the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
Michael A. Jahne received the fellowship for his dissertation, "Emission, Transport, and Quantitative Microbial Risk Assessment of Bioaerosols Following the Land Application of Manure,” which examines the environmental and health impact associated with manure management.
Jahne is a doctoral candidate in environmental science and engineering at Clarkson University.
"Consistent with the mission of Phi Kappa Phi, this work has aimed to produce high-quality research with clear societal implications, including both human effects on the environment and public health consequences of those impacts," Jahne said.
The Dissertation Fellowship program, established in 2014, allocates $20,000 annually to support active society members currently in the dissertation writing stage of doctoral study.
