POTSDAM -- Brady Turner of Potsdam was among three SUNY Potsdam students who were recently honored with the 2015 Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence.

Turner is a senior speech communications and history major.

A dedicated admissions ambassador for SUNY Potsdam, he has led more than 50 tours of campus and helped to serve as the "face" of the college for prospective students.

He has also served as the food and hospitality chair for Relay for Life, and was integral to the event's success in raising more than $62,000.

Brady also assisted the student conduct office as an intern, where he examined the trends in alcohol violations over a three-year period at the college.

The SUNY Potsdam recipients included Gregory Shilling, Brady Turner and Bailey Weigel.

Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher presented the awards to students from across the SUNY system in a ceremony held in Albany recently.

The Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence was created in 1997 to honor students who excel academically and show involvement in leadership roles, athletics, community service, creative and performing arts, campus involvement, or career achievement.

Each recipient receives a framed certificate and medallion, which is traditionally worn at commencement.
