Potsdam resident Jessica Weirich recently received a UG Communications Design degree from New York City's Pratt Institute.
Weirich was one of nearly 1,000 graduating students to be awarded a degree.
Celebrated artist and Pratt alumna Kay WalkingStick delivered the commencement address.
Honorary degrees were awarded to WalkingStick, doctor of fine arts; Adam D. Weinberg, Alice Pratt Brown director of the Whitney Museum of American Art, doctor of humane letters; and painter and Pratt alumnus Terry Winters, doctor of fine arts at the ceremony.
Founded in 1887, Pratt Institute enrolls 4,700 undergraduate and graduate students in art, design, architecture, information and library science, and liberal arts and sciences.
Pratt is located in the cultural hub of New York City with historic campuses in Brooklyn and Manhattan.
