POTSDAM -- Donald Leisure of Potsdam was recently recognized with the 2013 Success through Achievement and Commitment Awards, by the Student Success Center at SUNY Potsdam.
The award, was established to provide financial support to encourage the recipients' persistence and continuing success. SSC staff members and other college faculty and staff made the $500 award possible through their donations.
Leisure a freshman whose major is geology, was selected to receive this award based upon his academic achievement in the Fall 2012 semester, his participation in Student Support Services and the Non-Traditional Student Organization.
He was also honored for the initiative he displayed in arranging a six-credit academic summer internship at the Independence Mine State Historical Park in Alaska, working with the College's Experiential Education Office and the Department of Geology.
