POTSDAM – Steven M. Pedersen has been appointed assistant professor of communication and media at Clarkson University.
Pedersen received his bachelor of arts degree with honors in fine art and contemporary critical theory from Goldsmiths College, University of London, and his master of fine arts in electronic integrated arts from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University.
He was also a guest student at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen.
Before coming to Clarkson, Pedersen was a professor of art at Ball State University and an instructor and research associate at the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University.
Pedersen's research and art production explores the philosophical and psychological significance of contemporary visual culture and digital technology on the arts and society.
His primary interests include digital imaging; Web media and interface design; video and audio production and postproduction; physical computing and interactive systems; and two-dimensional design and composition.
He has exhibited his artworks nationally and internationally, including venues in London, New York City, Chicago, Berlin, Beijing and Kuala Lumpur.
