Approximately 570 students enrolled at St. Lawrence this fall, including 54 from 25 countries around the world, according to a press release from the university.

Fifty-five percent of students come from outside New York State, and 45 percent graduated in the top-10 percent of their high school class.

More than 90 percent participated in athletics in high school, 77 percent volunteered or were involved with community service, and 37 percent participated in the arts, the release said.

Each first-year student participates in St. Lawrence University's First-Year Program, one of the oldest “living-learning” programs in the country, designed to help students make successful transitions from high school to college, according to the release.

Students live together and are taught by faculty teams, developing the writing, speaking and research skills needed for college. Students continue to develop these skills in a spring First-Year Seminar.
