CANTON -- Four St. Lawrence County residents who attending St. Lawrence University were recognized at the school's recent Moving-Up Day ceremony.
Samantha W. Bice of Ogdensburg received the Kirk Douglas Drama Award. The college says it is presented annually to the student making the greatest contribution in the the dramatic arts field. She is a senior performance and communications arts major and graduated from Clifton-Fine Central School.
Lara C. Clemens of Canton received the Dr. O. Kenneth Bates Prize for Mathematics Award. The school says it is given to seniors in mathematics, computer science or statistics who have a 3.5 grade point average and have completed an honors project. Clemens is majoring in mathematics and biochemistry. Clemens is a senior and graduated from Hugh C. Williams Senior High School.
Joshua T. Eng of Norwood received the Outstanding Sophomore Award. The college says it is given to the top two sophomore leaders who show a high degree of involvement and potential for leadership in scholarship, athletics, campus activities, media and the arts. Eng is majoring in performance and communications arts and business in the liberal arts. A sophomore, Eng graduated from Norwood-Norfolk Central School.
Christopher M. Melville of Canton received the Alexander Black Medals. The school says it is given to students making significant contributions to campus journalism. Melville is majoring in English. A senior, Melville graduated from Hugh C. Williams Senior High School.
