
NORWOOD -- The staff and administration at Seaway Career & Technical Education Center in Norwood has announced the selection of Mariah Kaiser as the Potsdam Rotary Club/Seaway Career & Technical Education Center Student of the Month for April.
Other students selected as Student of the Month include:
• Jeffrey Hammond, Criminal Justice, Canton
• Alechia Lynch, Early Childhood Education, St. Lawrence Central
• Dereck Remington , HVAC, Parishville-Hopkinton
Mariah, who is enrolled in the Health Careers Program, is also a student at Canton. She is the daughter of Ron and Elizabeth Kaiser.
As a student in the Health Careers Program, Mariah has developed the skills necessary for an entry level position in health care. Mariah has also been enrolled in the dual enrollment program through North Country Community College earning college credits while attending the Health Careers Program. Mariah is a member of the National Technical Honor Society and has served as President of the society this year.
Mariah has earned a Feeding Assistant and Task Aide Certificate in the first year of the program as well as her certification in American Heart First Aid and CPR. In June this year, Mariah will be taking her New York State Certified Nurse Aide test to become eligible to work as a certified nurse aide in long term care.
The instructor, Mrs. Lytle, has said the following about Mariah: “Mariah is a polite, dependable, and conscientious young lady. She has a very good attitude, works diligently, and is a role model for other students. I have enjoyed assisting Mariah with her learning and growth these past two years. I know she will be an asset to the health care field. Her next step is to attend SUNY Canton where she has been accepted in the fall in the Pre-Nursing Program. I wish her the best of luck as she pursues her future endeavors.
