Norwood-Norfolk Central School selects students of the month for December

Norwood-Norfolk Central School recently selected students of the month for December.

“Students are selected for their academic achievements, integrity and leadership in the school and throughout the community,” according to a press release from the school.

Cole Bond was chosen as the freshman student of the month.

He is the son of Stephen and Julie Bond of Norwood.

He enjoys sports and plays football and runs track.

He hopes to “do well in school and to have a bright future,” the release said.

Sidney Belmore was chosen as the sophomore student of the month.

He is the son of Laura Tyo and Derek Belmore of Norfolk.

He enjoys playing sports and spending time with friends.

He also likes to hunt and fish in his free time.

Belmore is a member of the Travel Club.

His future plan is to go to college for a four year degree in construction management. His goal is to start his own business.

Amber Stickney was chosen as the junior student of the month.

She is the daughter of Ronald and Terry Stickney of Norwood.

She enjoys working with children and photography. She works for the Potsdam Summer Recreation program and works with kindergarten students teaching Spanish.

Stickney is a member of the Key Club and National Honor Society.

She plans to attend a local college and get her master’s degree in education to become a teacher.

Rebecca Hasenauer was chosen as the senior student of the month.

She is the daughter of Kathy and Mark Hasenauer of Norfolk.

She enjoys figure skating and playing soccer.

She also enjoys drawing and music. She plays the flute, piccolo and baritone saxophone.

Hasenauer is a member of the Art Club, Travel Club, National Honor Society and Jazz Band.

After high school she plans to attend SUNY Potsdam for visual art.

Students received gift cards from Hotel Grande and Al Smiths of Norfolk and the Hometown Café and Lobster House of Norwood.

The Teacher’s Association also presents the senior student of the month with a gift card to the Clarkson Bookstore.
