Several area students were recently named students of the month for the month of March at Norwood-Norfolk Central School.

Students are selected for “their academic achievements, integrity and leadership in the school and throughout the community,” according to a press release from the school.

Lindsay Farnsworth was chosen as the freshman student of the month for March.

She is the daughter of Jack and Betsy Farnsworth of Norfolk.

Farnsworth likes spending time with her friends or going on a run in her spare time.

She participates in cross country and indoor and outdoor track.

She plans to go to college after high school. Her dream job is to become a psychologist.

Benjamin Gushlaw was chosen as the sophomore student of the month for March.

He is the son of Vicki LaFay and Gary Gushlaw of Norwood.

He enjoys the outdoors; he like to explore, hunt and fish.

Gushlaw likes to hang out with friends and to play sports.

He participates in Envirothon, Jazz Band, Key Club, baseball, cross country, Spanish Club, Travel Club and Advanced Studio Art.

He plans to attend Lab Time at SLU this summer and to explore the state forest behind his house. His future plan is to become a wildlife biologist.

Rebecca Hasenauer was chosen as the junior student of the month for March.

She is the daughter of Kathy and Mark Hasenauer of Norfolk.

Hasenauer enjoys figure skating, soccer and art. She plays the flute and baritone saxophone. She participates in soccer, Art Club, Jazz Band, and Honor Society.

After high school, she plans to go to college for visual arts and to continue figure skating.

Cheyne Voss was chosen as the senior student of the month for March.

She is the daughter of Meaghan and Robert Voss of Norwood.

Voss enjoys acting and singing, and she also plays the flute.

She participates in Key Club, Drama Club, band, chorus, science team and National Honor Society.

She will be attending Clarkson University in the fall for environmental engineering.

Each student chosen received a gift card from a local restaurant.

The Hotel Grande and Al Smiths of Norfolk and The Hometown Café and Lobster House of Norwood donated gift cards.

The senior student of the month, Voss, was also presented with a gift card to the Clarkson Bookstore by the Teacher’s Association.
