Norwood and Potsdam students were selected as members of the 2016 Conference All-State Symphonic Band.
Norwood-Norfolk Central School junior Riley Haas and Potsdam Central School senior Jason Jemison were selected for the conference.
Haas earned this honor “through a rigorous, statewide audition process that tested players from Long Island to Buffalo,” according to a press release from Norwood-Norfolk Superintendent Jamie Cruikshank.
“His score of 99% reflects years of dedicated practice and natural talent,” Cruikshank said.
Haas auditioned using the Clarinet Concerto, K.622 by Mozart.
Jemison plays violin and was selected to perform as part of the all-state string orchestra, according to Potsdam orchestra director Jill Savage.
The conference ensemble will rehearse and perform at the state School Music Association Winter Conference in Rochester in December.
