NORWOOD -- At their dinner meeting on June 3, Norwood Kiwanis honored two outstanding athletes from Norwood-Norfolk Central School.

Sydney Levison, Class of 2019, was recognized for her outstanding achievements in track and field and Matthew Frego, Class of 2007, was recognized for his achievements in baseball.

Sydney Levison is a member of the NNCS Track and Field Hall of Fame in the 800 meters and is the record holder in the outdoor steeplechase.

She is a seven time All-Northern Champion in cross country and spring track.

In addition, she has been named Section 10 Cross Country MVP and was chosen by her peers for the Section 10 Outstanding Sportsmanship Award. She has also been named to the NY State All-State Team in cross country.

Her coach, Kent Fetter, commended her for her drive and commitment and for the exemplary role model she is for women on her track and field team.

Levison plans to attend Siena College, where she will compete in Division I cross country and track and field.

Matthew Frego was recognized for his success in baseball. Mr. Frego’s three-year batting average was above .375 and his fielding percentage was .980.

He served as team captain in both his junior and senior years and was a role model for young athletes at NNCS.

He demonstrated his pride in being a Norwood-Norfolk Flyer by his determination, leadership and sportsmanship, Kiwanis said.
