Two St. Lawrence County residents attending SUNY Canton received the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence.
Lydia Dale of Norwood and Meghan Gibson of Canton were selected because they "have best demonstrated, and have been recognized for, the integration of academic excellence with accomplishments in the areas of leadership, athletics, community service, creative and performing arts, campus involvement, or career achievement," a statement from SUNY reads.
Their names and accomplishments survived a three-round selection process.
The school's president nominated them to a selection committee, then they were forwarded to the Chancellor's office, then picked from among those who remained by the Chancellor, Nancy Zimpher.
