North Country students study abroad through St. Lawrence University

CANTON -- The following students are participating in an off-campus study abroad program for the Spring 2019 semester through St. Lawrence University.

• Sunehra Malhotra of Canton. Malhotra is a member of the Class of 2020 and is majoring in psychology and economics. Malhotra attended UWC Dover. Malhotra is participating in CIEE's spring program at East China Normal University in Shanghai, China.

• Molly A. McMasters of Canton. McMasters is a member of the Class of 2020 and is majoring in conservation biology and art and art history. McMasters attended Hugh C Williams High School. McMasters is participating in an off-campus program in Italy.

• Teya X. Shrady of Rensselaer Falls. Shrady is a member of the Class of 2019 and is majoring in art and art history. Shrady attended Hugh C Williams High School. Shrady is participating in an off-campus program at Kansai Gaidai University in Japan.

• Isobel R. Sweeney of Norwood. Sweeney is a member of the Class of 2020 and is majoring in performance and communication arts. Sweeney attended Norwood-Norfolk Central School. Sweeney is participating in an off-campus program at Kansai Gaidai University in Japan.

• Nicholle L. Gotham of Gouverneur. Gotham is a member of the Class of 2020 and is majoring in performance and communication arts. Gotham attended Gouverneur High School. Gotham is participating in St. Lawrence University's Liberal Arts in New York City program.

• Diana Festa of Canton. Festa is a member of the Class of 2020 and is majoring in government. Festa attended Conard High School. Festa is participating in the Austro-American Institute of Education program in Vienna.

Nearly three-quarters of St. Lawrence University undergraduates study abroad, with nearly two-thirds of students studying abroad for a semester or longer. According to the 2018 Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange, St. Lawrence ranked No. 18 in the "Leading Institutions by Duration-Baccalaureate" category.

The Princeton Review ranked St. Lawrence 15th for Most Popular Study Abroad Programs in its Best 381 Colleges: 2017 Edition, while Best Choice Schools named St. Lawrence University one of the top-20 colleges in the nation for study abroad opportunities.
