Private First Class Carlton Cody Smith, 18, Norwood, recently graduated from United States Marine Corps boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island.
Smith successfully completed 13 weeks of intensive basic training as one of 77 recruits in Training Platoon 1084.
While in recruit training, Smith accomplished the following: rifle expert badge, squad leader and was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class.
Following ten days home on leave, he will report to Camp Geiger in North Carolina for two months at the School of Infantry Training and then Military Occupation Specialty School.
He is the son of Michael and Betty Smith of Norwood.
