MASSENA -- New managers and supervisors at Massena Memorial Hospital recently earned a “New Supervisors” certification for participating in an eight-week training and development program presented by CITEC for several Massena area businesses.
Six employees from the administrative team were nominated to attend the certification program: Kelly LaBrake, environmental services; Amy Love, registration; Elysa Smith, outreach services; Brittany Rowe, respiratory therapy; Anastasia Blanchard, coding; and Dawn Hewlett, patient accounting.
The training certification covered foundational issues for anyone directly responsible for the work of others, regardless of how new they are to their roles.
Topics covered included “Essentials of Supervising Others... Including Peers!,” interpersonal skills, dealing with difficult employees, managing and resolving conflicts, business etiquette, business writing, employment laws, and safety in the workplace.
“Each individual has an important role within our organization,” said Bob Wolleben, chief executive officer.
The MMH employees joined ten other people from Massena businesses in the training, including employees from Massena Electric Department and the Housing Authority.
