MASSENA -- A member of the Massena Village Fire Department recently graduated from the 11-week Recruit Firefighter Training Program at the New York State Fire Academy in Montour Falls.
Justin Niles finished at the top of his class, according to Massena Fire Department foreman Ken McGowan.
Niles received the Academic Excellence Award, the school's top honor. He also earned national certification firefighter and hazardous materials response certification.
He also earned 13 state certifications, including accident victim extrication and flammable gas emergency response.
