MASSENA -- Kiley Bodway of Massena was recently promoted to first-degree black belt in Joshiki Self Defense. Master instructor Jonathan A. French gave the test with assistance from five other black belts.
Kiley Bodway is recognized as a black belt through Master French's Martial Arts and the Association of Martial Artists World Wide.
Part of her test involved defending against over a hundred different attacks and then defending against multiple attackers at the same time.
"Bodway demonstrated the physical techniques of Joshiki and has shown courtesy, self control, indomitable spirit, integrity, and perseverance. Kiley Bodway is a perfect example of a real martial art black belt," French wrote in an email.
