Lisbon, Morristown, Parishville residents graduate from SLU

CANTON -- The following local students were among the 548 students awarded a degree at St. Lawrence University's Commencement ceremony, held May 22 on campus:

• Danielle N. Winters, of Lisbon, graduated from Lisbon Central School, and received a degree in Mathematics and minored in Educational Studies.

• Kathleen M. Connor-Leam, of Morristown, received a Certificate of Advanced Study.

• Cody S. Witherell, of Parishville, graduated from Parishville-Hopkinton Central School, and received a degree in Global Studies and minored in Educational Studies.

• Monica L. Scott, of Rensselaer Falls, received a Certificate of Advanced Study.

The Commencement speaker was NBC journalist and author Tom Brokaw, who was awarded an honorary degree at the ceremony.

Three retired members of the University's Board of Trustees were also awarded honorary degrees, and the North Country Citation was awarded to Philip Harnden, founder and executive director of GardenShare, a community organization.
