NORWOOD -- The Seaway Career & Technical Education Center in Norwood has announced Jonathan Russell as the Potsdam Rotary Club Student of the Month for November.
Jonathan is a student in the Building Trades Program. He is from the Massena Central School District and is the son of Lisa Russell.
Upon completion of the program, Jonathan will be ready to enter the workforce into an entry-level position as a carpenter or any line of work in the building trades industry. He also can choose to further his education in the field.
“Jonathan shows initiative as a young adult. He has excellent creative skills and goes above and beyond on a daily basis,” Instructor Larry Ashley said. “He works well with his peers and adults. He is a role model for his peers and is a pleasure to have in class”.
The Building Trades Program is a two-year program that provides an understanding of the basic theories of carpentry and residential electrical which are then applied to a building project. A complete house is built on site and sold each year. The areas of study include safe use of hand and power tools, framing techniques, roofing, exterior and interior finishing, stair construction and cabinet installation.
