HEUVELTON -- Matthew S. Cameron of Heuvelton was recently named a “Commended Student” in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Cameron is the son of Scott M. Cameron of Ogdensburg and Rhonda L. Cameron of Heuvelton.
About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation were recognized for their “exceptional academic promise,” according to a press release from Heuvelton Central School.
Commended students placed among the top 5 percent of more then 1.6 million students who entered the 2017 competition by taking the 2015 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
"These young men and women being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success, " according to a spokesperson for NMSC.
