Caitlyn Sullivan, a recent graduate from Harrisville Central School, is the first recipient of the Rev. Phillip A. Caruso Memorial Scholarship through the Northern New York Community Foundation.
The scholarship was established to honor Caruso, who was a chemist and a senior pastor at the New Life Assembly of God in Ogdensburg for 26 years, until his death in 2013.
The scholarship fund was created by his family and will be awarded annually to a graduating high school senior from a St. Lawrence County school pursuing an education in human services.
Sullivan will attend North Country Community College this fall, with plans to pursue a career in social work.
