Jared Baker, son of Don Baker, Warrensburg, and Peter and Denise Shelly, Hannawa Falls, graduated from University of Buffalo on Friday, May 13 with a PhD in Chemistry.
The title of his thesis is "Fundamental Studies of Chalcogenide Nanocrystals, Carbonaceous Nanoparticles, and Chromatographic Materials."
He was the recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award.
Baker is a 1994 graduate of Potsdam Central School.
He earned his undergraduate degree from University of Montana, after serving four years with the US Army.
He will be Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Elmira College starting July 1.
He resides with his wife, Martina, and their two daughters.
