POTSDAM -- Jeffrey Gardiner, formerly of Potsdam, was recently named a 2017 National Double-Goal Coach Award winner.
The award is given annually to 50 youth and high school coaches throughout the U.S.
The Positive Coaching Alliance gives the recognition to those who help young athletes “create a positive, character-building youth culture,” according to a news release announcing the award.
Gardiner has coached track and field and cross-country for 16 years at Lick-Wilmerding High School in San Francisco, Calif.
His teams have won 23 track and six cross-country league championships, five sectional titles and eight top 10 state cross-country championship finishes.
He was inducted into the Potsdam High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011 and was coached by Bill Lewis.
