Jonathon Rufa, formerly of Massena, was recently promoted to assistant principal at R.C. Murphy Junior High School within the Three Village Central School District, in Stony Brook.
During his tenure in the Three Village Central School District, Rufa has worked as the junior high school health, physical education and Athletics chairperson, dean of students, and physical education teacher at both R.C. Murphy and P.J. Gelinas junior high schools.
He has also been a member of the district’s coaching staff, leading the high school’s junior varsity baseball team for two seasons and the Murphy baseball team for two seasons.
Rufa also acted as a volunteer assistant coach for the Murphy football team and worked with the R.C. Murphy musical theatre stage crew for the performances of “Little Shop of Horrors,” “Legally Blonde,” “Wizard of Oz,” “Guys and Dolls,” and “Mary Poppins.”
A recent graduate of the Stony Brook University School of Professional Development, Rufa received a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Leadership.
He is the son of Robert and the late Glory Rufa of Massena. He is a 2001 graduate of Massena Central High School, and continued his education at SUNY Cortland, where he received both a bachelors of science in education and a masters of science in teaching.
