Five Clarkson University faculty members were honored this month at a recognition ceremony for their “excellence in the classroom and dedication to mentoring students,” according to a press release.
Associate Professor of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering Kevin Fite received the Outstanding Advisor Award.
Each year students recognize a faculty member who has “excelled at this critical academic responsibility,” the release said.
Assistant Professor of Political Science Christina Xydias received the Outstanding New Teacher Award. This award recognizes teachers in their first four years at Clarkson.
Students choose the recipients for their “excellence in the classroom, capacity to inspire students, and creativity in teaching and curriculum development,” the release said.
The Clarkson University Student Association members present the Outstanding Teacher Award each year to a professor who not “only teaches, but inspires,” according to the release.
The 2015 Outstanding Teaching Award was presented to Associate Professor of Political Science Stephen Bird.
Associate Professor of Political Science Christopher Robinson received the Residence Hall Association Faculty Award.
Chosen by students, this award honors a faculty member who “exemplifies service, going above and beyond the call of duty to add to the prosperity and environmental health of the campus community,” the release said.
Associate Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Sitaraman Krishnan received the Tau Beta Pi Faculty Award.
Clarkson's NY-Theta chapter presents this award annually to a faculty member who has “embodied and instilled in students the ideals of integrity and excellence in engineering,” the release said.
