Shayla R. Williams of Colton was named to the dean's list at Colby College for academic achievement during the spring semester 2016.

Williams was one of 452 Colby students, or 24 percent of the student body, to qualify for the dean's list.

She is a member of the class of 2016. She attended Colton-Pierrepont Central School and is the daughter of James Williams and Donna Dilworth of Colton.

Williams earned a semester grade point average of 3.75 or higher to be included on Colby's dean's list.

Founded in 1813, Colby was the first previously all-male college in New England to admit women, according to a press release.

Serving only undergraduates, Colby is home to a community of 1,850 students from around the globe.
