OGDENSBURG -- Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center is participating in the national recognition of what they call "Perioperative Nurse Week," Nov. 12 to 18.
People who have had a surgical procedure have had a perioperative registered nurse who was responsible for the patient’s well-being throughout the operation, CHMC officials said.
While all of the other medical professionals in the room, including the surgeon, anesthesia provider, surgical assistant and other assistive personnel, are focused on their specific duties, the perioperative registered nurse focuses on the patient for the duration of the procedure, CHMC said.
