POTSDAM – Clarkson University Professor of Biology Michael Twiss was selected to serve as vice president and president-elect of the Association for Great Lakes Research (IAGLR) at their recent international conference in Detroit, attended by more than 1,000 attendees from around the globe.
IAGLR is researchers studying the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River system, other large lakes of the world, and their watersheds, as well as people with an interest in such research.
Twiss, a member of IAGLR since 1989, was elected to the IAGLR Board of directors in 2016, and is intent on helping the association expand its global participation.
"One well-earned distinction is the international cooperation that exists between Canada and the United States to manage and protect its shared water resource represented by the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River system,” Twiss said. “Other nations look to this example as the gold standard of aquatic resource policy."
