Dana M. Barry, senior technical writer and editor at Clarkson University’s Center for Advanced Materials Processing, has been recognized by the American Chemical Society (ACS) as an official ACS Chemistry Ambassador.
This honor is for her role as National Chemistry Week Coordinator.
National Chemistry Week (NCW) has different yearly themes and is celebrated during the month of October. The theme for 2013 is "Energy Now and Forever."
For the past ten years, Barry coordinated events and carried out chemistry workshops in schools and other locations during National Chemistry Week for the Northern New York Section of the ACS. For her services as NCW Coordinator, she has been awarded an ACS Chemistry Ambassador sash, a certificate of recognition, and a lapel pin.
This is Barry’s 18th consecutive year serving as an officer for the Northern New York Section of the ACS. In 2004, her Chemical Sensation Project (held in collaboration with Dean Professor Hideyuki Kanematsu of Suzuka National College of Technology, Japan) won a ChemLuminary Award in Public Relations for the Northern New York Section. This prestigious honor was presented to Barry at the American Chemical Society’s National Convention held in Philadelphia, Pa., in 2004.
In addition to her position at CAMP, Barry serves as scientific board president for Ansted University and as a visiting professor overseas.
