Clarkson University Chief Inclusion & Human Resources Officer Suong Ives was recently elected to chair the new northeast chapter of the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education.

The association serves as a voice for diversity officers in higher education by “supporting their collective efforts to produce and disseminate empirical evidence through research to inform diversity initiatives; identify and circulate exemplary practices; provide professional development for current and aspiring diversity officers and professionals; inform and influence national, state and local policies; and create and foster networking opportunities,” according to a press release from Clarkson.

"Suong's extensive background in diversity leadership will serve the NADOHE well as they work to transform higher education through the best in inclusion practices," said Clarkson President Tony Collins.

"I also anticipate that she will bring back valuable experience that we'll be able to implement on our campus, as we create new inclusion and human resources strategies for our community."

Ives has more than 20 years of leadership experience in human resources and inclusion at organizations like UC Berkeley, AT&T, France Telecom, Time Warner and New York University.

She earned her bachelor of arts degree in business administration from Cleveland State University and a master of arts in human resources management from San Jose State University.

The Northeast Chapter membership includes colleges and universities in New York, New Jersey, Vermont, Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania, not including SUNY schools, which have their own chapter.
