POTSDAM -- Marco A. Satyro has been hired as a professor of chemical engineering at Clarkson University.
Satyro is one of the original founders of Virtual Materials Group (VMG), a process simulation, thermodynamic software and engineering consulting services provider based in Calgary, Alberta, and established in 1999, Clarkson said.
Satyro also served as chief technology officer from 1999 to 2008 and chief executive officer from 2008 to 2012, and was named senior engineering fellow in 2012, the school said.
While at VMG, he developed new methods for the calculation of thermodynamic equilibrium for natural gas mixtures, oils, bitumen and mixtures of bitumen and solvents. He also led the company’s expansion from a local solutions provider to a recognized international leader in the process simulation industry through innovation, quality software client support services, applied research on unit operation model development and new thermodynamic methods for the simulation of complex mixtures and processing plants, according to Clarkson.
