POTSDAM -- Sgt. 1st Class Joshua Swink has been appointed assistant professor of military science at Clarkson University.
He received his bachelor of science degree in sports and recreation management from Ashford University.
He deployed to Iraq from to support the initial invasion of Iraq, then redeployed for peacekeeping operations in Baghdad. From 2008-2009, he supported Operation Afghan Freedom in Eastern Afghanistan. He was then stationed at Fort Jackson, S.C., as an Army drill sergeant. Following that assignment, he moved forward to Fort Drum, N.Y., where he served as a Pathfinder platoon sergeant, and deployed to Afghanistan in 2013-2014.
