Clarkson teams celebrate five first-place, three second-place and two third-place wins at North Country Business Plan Competition

POTSDAM -- Clarkson University teams celebrated five first-place, three second-place and two third-place wins at the North Country Business Plan Competition held on campus.

The winning teams were:

• Energy & Sustainability, First Place -- Two Horse Transit, LLC, Aaron August (Paul Smith's College); Third Place -- Solar Fold, Mackenzie Renskers, Lilly Muffoletto and Brandon Artura (SUNY Plattsburgh)

• Products & Services, First Place -- Four Score Jeans, Courtney Black, Grayden Shand, Aleem Sutar, Kurt Moore and Joel Hargrave (Clarkson University); Second Place -- Powder Partner, Michael Dalberth and Daniel Drake (Clarkson University); Third Place - Panlov Personal Chef Creations, Marjorie Antoniou, Jaylene Johnston and Hope Laramee (SUNY Plattsburgh)

• Information Technology & Software, First Place -- Z-Score, Joe Siracuse and Kevin MacVittie (Clarkson University); Second Place -- M-Square, James Myer (SUNY Potsdam); Third Place -- Concept Cram, Nicole Bailey and Timothy Allen (Clarkson University)

• Nano Technology & Advanced Tech, First Place -- Elecktrac, Megan Collier, Conor Bayly, Alex Fulciniti, Nitin Sabnani and Chris Eu (Clarkson University); Second Place -- Airvo-Kalervo Hyppa, Brian Heneghan and Aaron Dahl (Clarkson University); Third Place -- Advanced Strength Training Technologies, Robert Shea (Clarkson University)

• Healthcare/Biotechnology, First Place -- Comfy Pets, LLC, Bryce Bandish (Clarkson University)

• Social Entrepreneurship & Non-Profit Category, First Place -- The Unmet Need, Jenna Boss (Clarkson University); Second Place -- Sanovie, Mackenna Towers, Christine Gohl, Aurora Wang, Libby McCusker and Lawrence Rosa (Clarkson University); Third Place -- Altru Bloom, David Miller, Matt Fowler, Kentaro Hibino and Brendan Schecker (SUNY Plattsburgh)

Clarkson students Colton Weaver and Katie Martin of Lilo also won second place at the Mohawk Valley Regional Competition and are advancing to the state competition.

Alexandria Central high school students Cameron Morgan, Benjamin Nelson, Talon Parker and Victoria Ciarfella won first place in the high school track of the competition. This is the first time the North Country Regional Business Plan Competition included a track for students in grades nine through 12 who are running their own business or who are working on a business plan in the classroom.

The Reh Center for Entrepreneurship in Clarkson's School of Business partnered with SUNY Plattsburgh to co-host the North Country regional competition. A total of 35 teams with about 81 students from Clarkson, SUNY Plattsburgh, SUNY Potsdam, St. Lawrence University, Clinton Community College, Paul Smith's College and Alexandria Central School District presented at the event.

Prizes for the university team tracks were $2,000 for first place, $1,000 for second place and $500 for third place.

The top two finishers in each category will advance to the state competition April 24 in Albany, according to Erin Draper, director of the Reh Center for Entrepreneurship at Clarkson.
